Thankful Villages were those that lost no men in the First World War. There were some 52 parishes in England and Wales which could claim this honour at the end of the conflict.
The Thankful Village is an uplifting comedy-drama by Kate Bramley with music by Sony Award winning songwriter Jez Lowe.
The play is about a village backwater, changed forever by the advent of the Great War in Europe. Throughout the the play, the focus switches between the women and the men, who both tell different sides of the story. A story of hope, humour and humanity made all the more interesting as it covers women’s roles at home, as well as the men away at war.
