Since their success as part of the ‘BBC Introduces’ showcase at Band on the Wall as part of Manchester Jazz Festival (with the live recording was broadcast on BBC Radio 3) in 2013, Dominic J Marshall Trio has been going from strength to strength.
Dominic finds a piano trio format a very intimate and inspiring setting. The compositional approach to improvising has been one of the main elements of the trio’s work as a band, as well as Dominic and his band mates’ insatiable hunger for inspiration which they take from jazz, classical, hip-hop, soul, folk and everything in between. Yet, their sound has a surprising oneness to it and is definitely uncompromising and their own. Dominic has been sharing his life between the UK and Holland and so he has been running two line-ups in parallel. The latest CD entitled “The Triolithic” brings these two ensembles and experiences together for the first time. Dominic will play music from this acclaimed album and we can also count on being surprised with new pieces.
“With all the headlines about Glasper and Kamasi, it's time to make some room for an ultra-hip yet jazz-schooled Brit doing his own challenging version of hip hop and electronica-charged, soulful cosmic jazz.“ Selwyn Harris, Jazzwise
