Wednesday 26 July @ 7.30pm
In rural England, 1865, a woman who is trapped in a loveless marriage to a much older man begins a passionate affair with a man her own age.

The source, Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, is a short novel by Nikolai Leskov, written in that very year, and previously adapted by Shostakovich into his opera of the same name.

"Alice Birch’s script deftly ferries it to our shores, and the cool eye of director William Oldroyd, a stage specialist until now, carefully sets a fuse. This is a lusty, jaw-droppingly amoral bodice-ripper" The Telegraph ★★★★★

"Florence Pugh is lethally charismatic in William Oldroyd’s daring journey into the darkest corners of the world of bonnets and bows" Guardian ★★★★★

With Florence Pugh, Cosmo Jarvis. Dir- William Oldroyd UK 2016 1hr 29mins
