Vernon is a highly entertaining jazz and soul singing guitarist, serving up a stylish mix of jazz, funk and soul with real class and groove. Inspired by the playing of Wes Montgomery and George Benson, and the vocals of Al Jarreau, Bill Withers and Stevie Wonder, Vernon’s performs with a jazzy sound with a soulful, funky edge, featuring favourites including George Benson classics such as Love Ballad and Give Me The Night.
Vernon began his career playing guitar and singing with reggae and funk bands in London, including appearances upstairs at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, and has since become a familiar face on the UK jazz circuit. Highlights include performances at Birmingham Jazz Festival, appearances as a featured artist on Jazz FM, and support slots for Courtney Pine CBE, Geno Washington, Acoustic Alchemy, Snake Davis and The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
A regular performer at Southport Jazz Festival, Nantwich Jazz & Blues Festival and Marlborough Jazz Festival, Vernon is a seasoned and charismatic performer whose warm vocals, fluent guitar work and irresistible grooves always make for a great night.
