The Immortals: The Wonders of the Museo Egizio (PG)

Join Academy Award-winner, Jeremy Irons, as he takes the viewer on a your of one of the world’s most important museums: The Museo Egizio in Turin.

The oldest collection dedicated to ancient Egyptian civilization houses over 40,000 artifacts —12,000 of which are on display — ranging from colossal statues to the rich burial objects of Kha and Merit and welcomes over 900,000 visitors a year. Key exhibits include Sphinxes, the Turin King List, the Goldmine Papyrus, and sculptures of Ramesses II and Isis of Coptos.

Founded in 1824, the museum’s origins are linked to Piedmontese diplomat Bernardino Drovetti and excavation
campaigns by Ernesto Schiaparelli and Giulio Farina. Its story is explored in The Immortals, tracing Egypt’s influence and featuring insights from museum leaders, international experts, and restorers. With over 90 global collaborations, the museum’s collections and legacy connect Turin to Egypt through history, science, and myth.

Battleship Potemkin with Pet Shop Boys Score (12A)

This is a special centenary edition of Sergei Eisenstein’s legendary Battleship Potemkin featuring the celebrated score by Pet Shop Boys.

A fixture in the critical canon almost since its premiere, Eisenstein’s film about a 1905 naval mutiny was revolutionary in both form and content. Battleship Potemkin is renowned for its dynamic compositional strength and editing of such frame-perfect precision that it’s hard not to be swept along.

First revealed at a special outdoor screening in front of an estimated 25,000 in Trafalgar Square in 2004, Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe’s score, performed with the Dresdner Sinfoniker and orchestrated by Torsten Rasch, blends electronic beats with orchestral grandeur to create a contemporary cinematic experience.

Announced only as they were preparing to play two nights at nearby behemoth Wembley Stadium that same month, it saw a small crowd of 1800 lucky fans treated to an intimate show in which the band eschewed their big hits in favour of rarely heard gems. This was a gig with many firsts; songs included Saint of Me, I Got the Blues and Brand New Car, while Melody was performed for the first time since 1977 and Moon Is Up brought to the stage for the only time in the band’s live career. Sheryl Crow, who opened the show, joined the band for a special rendition of Honky Tonk Women. As Mick Jagger shouted from the stage that night “If you want to see the hits, go to the big place down the road”. As promised, they didn’t disappoint.
