Reminisce with REVIVAL

Revival is a well-known rock band from Nottingham who celebrate pop music from an era many of us will always hold close to our hearts; memorable tunes ranging from the late fifties to the early seventies (with a few more well-known melodies thrown in for good measure).

The seven piece band was formed in 1990 and quickly discovered their musical tastes were shared by many other people of a certain age! So much so, the chaps quickly found themselves in demand to play an increasing number of concerts and shows all over the country.

Probably the most prestigious venues played by Revival include The London Guildhall (the week after The Queen Mother celebrated her 100th. birthday there) Wollaton Park, Nottingham Albert Hall and The Nottingham Concert Hall. The band was also pleased to appear on BBC TV for “Children in Need” in 2006, and got a mention on
Radio 2 from Wogan the same year.

Over the years, Revival has reduced in size to six members, three of which were replaced after leaving the band for health and personal reasons.

We were all very sad this year when Bryan, our original bass player, passed after a long illness. He will be remembered fondly by us all for his unique bass playing and his strong sense of humour.

Cilla & The Swinging 60s

Cilla & The Swinging 60s is a highly entertaining show, stylishly celebrating the life and music of the legendary Cilla Black as well as a handpicked selection of her well-known contemporaries, including Dusty Springfield, Lulu, Petula Clark, The Beatles and many more.

Starring the unforgettable voice as seen on ITV and previous West End Singer, Sandy Smith as Cilla, the show will take you on a rollercoaster journey through many of the greatest pop songs of the 60s including Cilla’s own chart toppers ‘Anyone Who Had A Heart’, ‘Alfie’ and ‘You’re My World’.

This show is selling out theatres around the country and the reviews speak for themselves.

Other great songs of the decade are featured including‘Dancing in the Street’ ‘Shout’ and ‘Do You Love Me’ ‘Proud Mary’ and more… leaving you all with that feel-good vibe. Hit after hit brings you to your feet ‘Cilla & The Swinging 60s’ has everything – smash hit songs, great music, dancing, singing and a huge smiling memory with the unforgettable Cilla Black.

Jazz Steps: Tom Ollendorff Trio

Tom Ollendorff has a distinctive guitar sound, blending virtuosic playing with sophisticated harmonic and melodic ideas. With long-standing trio partners, drummer Marc Michel and bassist Conor Chaplin, they form a “…very classy” (The Guardian) outfit. Tom’s music elegantly mixes graceful grooving songlike themes, baroque-style etudes and headlong fast-bop swing.

Following on from their critically acclaimed (**4 Stars**) debut album A Song For You, their latest release Passing Ships – out in May – features New York Saxophonist Ben Wendel.

“…Ollendorff presents sophisticated, melodic music of seraphic beauty ” -All About Jazz

Don’t miss the Tom Ollendorff Trio at Jazz Steps performing sophisticated melodic tunes taken from both albums.
