Films of Hong Kong: Four Trails (12A) + Q&A

Four Trails tells the incredible story of one of Hong Kong’s least known adventure challenges.

The origin of the Hong Kong Four Trails Ultra Challenge starts with a German ex-pat called Andre Blumberg. Faced with a looming mid-life crisis, Andre had been living the work hard play hard lifestyle for too long. Overweight and with increasing cholesterol levels, Andre had a very hard decision to make. Buy a high-end sports car and have an affair or pick up a pair of trainers and get in shape.

“I was about to turn 40 years old and was well over 100 kilograms (220 pounds) in weight. The doctor said he needed to put me on cholesterol-lowering medication,” said Blumberg. Overnight, Blumberg stopped drinking alcohol, radically changed his diet, and booked a weeklong cleanse retreat in Northern Thailand to celebrate entering his fifth decade.

Two years later, and now an accomplished trailrunner, Andre challenged himself to run all four of Hong Kong’s ultra distance trails in just four days. At the time, a feat they said was impossible.

Exhibition on Screen’s award-winning film – first released during covid to a restricted audience – is back by popular demand with an exciting new addition from the blockbuster transatlantic exhibition from Tate Britain and MFA Houston ‘Frida Kahlo: the Making of an Icon’.  Back in the cinemas in May 2026, one month before the Tate exhibition opens, allowing audiences to watch both the film and see the show.

Exhibition on Screen: Turner & Constable (Cert TBC)

Celebrating the 250th anniversary of their births, this unmissable new documentary explores Turner and Constable’s intertwined lives and legacies alongside the ground-breaking Tate exhibition.

Two of Britain’s greatest painters, J.M.W. Turner and John Constable were also the greatest of rivals. Born within a year of each other, both used landscape painting to reflect the changing world around them. Tate Britain is bringing these two greats together for a ground-breaking exhibition, in London from November 2025 to April 2026, and Exhibition on Screen once again has exclusive and privileged access to bring their extraordinary art and remarkable stories to the big screen in February so that you can enjoy both film and exhibition together. Discover unexpected sides to both artists with intimate views of sketchbooks and personal items and insights from leading experts.

Turner’s blazing sunsets and sublime scenes from his travels and Constable’s idealised depictions of beloved places from home whipped the public of the time into a frenzy of enthusiasm. Constable represents the very best of the old school of realism and pastoral nostalgia; Turner, an exciting new way of depicting emotion and dreamlike impressions. Critics compared their starkly different styles to a clash of ‘fire and water’. Don’t miss this opportunity to see these greats

Tuesday 18th November – Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere

From 20th Century Studios, Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere chronicles the making of Bruce Springsteen’s 1982 “Nebraska” album, following the success of his 1980 album, ‘The River’ and before the infamous’ Born in the USA’ album in 1984.

It was a time when Springsteen was a young musician on the cusp of global superstardom but burnt out, struggling to reconcile the pressures of success with the ghosts of his strained relationship with his father and his battle with depression. Recorded on a 4-track recorder in Springsteen’s New Jersey bedroom, the album marked a pivotal time in his life and is considered one of his most enduring works – a raw, haunted acoustic record populated by lost souls searching for a reason to believe.

The film depicts a man who is afraid at times to say out loud what he is dealing with – an American man enduring loneliness and a kind of spiritual devastation. The story is “about 1982 but it’s also a story about right now. I hope one thing the movie does is make us all think about going out the door less than perfect and slightly more human because of it” writer Warren Zane

Directed by Scott Cooper
With Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen

The film should finish at 3.30pm
